Testing details:
- The “Infantry Battles” event is available in the “Events and Tournaments” tab.
New map: Kivu
- This map is set in Central Africa. It has a dedicated mission mode with 5 capture points, similar to Domination, but with its own rules.
- The map is roughly four times larger than the previous locations.
- We’ve put a lot of work into server optimization, so we’re launching the 64 vs 64 format again (128 players per session).
- New gear and appearance for soldiers, tailored to the location’s setting (for both sides).
- A dedicated arsenal of small arms and vehicles for both sides (excluding special-purpose gear — pistols, shotguns, drones, RPGs, and MANPADS):
- USA: M4A1, M16A4, TAC-50, SCAR-L, M249 Para, MAC-11 PDW, XM5, M110 SDMR. Vehicles: M1A2 SEP V2, LAV-AD, AH-64A
- USSR: AK-12, AK-74M, KSVK, Kord 6P67, RPK-74M, PP-19, AK-15, SVDM. Vehicles: T-90M, 2S6, Mi-28N
Arcade Battles are back
- Marker appearance logic has been reworked: markers no longer show through bushes or at long range, and only appear when a player is aiming at a visible target (including through a window), just running and looking around won’t trigger one. There are noticeably fewer markers on the map now, and their purpose is to help pinpoint an enemy you’ve already spotted, not to reveal someone you can’t see.
- Changed how equipment weight affects movement speed in Arcade Battles. Heavily geared-up soldiers move faster than in Realistic Battles, making the mode more dynamic.
Rules of large-scale warfare
- Spawning on captured points is being tested (only on Kivu for now! If it works out, it may be extended to other large maps).
- A separate drone control range setting for large-scale battles.
- Transport that will help you get to key points faster.
On foot, and on wheels
- Passenger transport with capacity for up to 5 soldiers: boarding and switching to the driver’s seat on the move if the driver goes down.
Interface and settings
- Added a separate graphics setting for Infantry modes by popular request. Implemented as a separate tab in the settings Graphics section, next to the general game settings.
Improvements to familiar locations
- Granitograd and Al-Massa: fixed the placement of many environment assets and their destructibility, improved the penetrability of various materials.
New weapon skins
- New camouflage added for some small arms: AK-12, RPK-74M, SVDM, M249, M4A1, M16A4. The camo pattern is selected automatically based on the battle’s location.
Classes
- Class loadout presets have been reworked to make classes feel more distinct. Special weapons like RPGs, MANPADS, and drones are no longer available to every soldier. Pay attention to loadout presets when picking a class, choose based on the actual situation on the battlefield.
Progression
- Total Superiority: capture every point at once, and the enemy’s points will start draining even faster, bringing your team closer to victory.
Weapons
- Grenade throwing has been reworked. Throws are more accurate now, and bugs that sent grenades flying off in the wrong direction have been fixed. Updated throw animation and timing, tied the release point to your aim, and adjusted how your weapon affects the throw’s trajectory. The grenade no longer visibly pops into your hand. Animation work is ongoing and will become more realistic over time.
- Added a setting for an alternate weapon grip. The game defaults to a straight grip, but you can now enable a canted grip (Main parameters → Infantry Battle Settings → Neoclassical weapon tilt), which changes your view through the sight.
- Added a concussion effect from nearby grenade blasts.
- Experiment: respawning with the same soldier (the same loadout) is now available twice in a row before you need to pick again.
- Fixed weapon-switching animations and a bug that caused weapons to clip into objects when mounted on a bipod.
- Expanded the range of small arms available with optical sights.
- New camo schemes: AK-12, RPK-74M, SVDM, M249, M4A1, M16A4, which are selected automatically based on the battle’s location.
