Parental controls on the Gaijin account – Gaijin Support

At Gaijin, we want our games to be safe and enjoyable for younger players, and we know parents want a say in how their children play online.

Parental controls let you manage your child’s purchases and public posts on Gaijin services. We are rolling this system out gradually.

This page explains how to set up Parental controls, what each setting does, and how to manage them afterwards. Parental controls work best alongside an open conversation with your child about staying safe online.

Parental controls setup

During account registration, your child will be prompted to provide your email if the date of birth they enter shows they are under 18.

After that, you will receive an email with a link to start configuring Parental controls and set up the PIN code to access and change them.

Available Parental Control Settings

Purchases

You can block purchases in the Gaijin.Net Store (store.gaijin.net), require your PIN for each purchase, or allow them.

By default, your PIN is required for every purchase in the Gaijin.Net Store. Until you complete Parental controls setup, purchases are blocked.

Note: Purchases made through third-party storefronts (e.g., Steam, Microsoft Store on PC or Xbox, PlayStation Store, Apple App Store, Google Play Store) are managed through those platforms’ own Parental controls.

At the end of this page, you can find several links with instructions on setting up Parental controls on those storefronts/platforms.

Chats and direct messaging

If your child is under 18, text chat, voice chat, and direct messaging features in some Gaijin games and Gaijin services will be restricted.

For now, this restriction applies only to the War Thunder PC version and direct messaging on Gaijin Official Forums, but we are working to add more games and expand options for parents.

Publications

You can allow or block posting and commenting on several Gaijin services (e.g., Gaijin Official Forums, live.warthunder.com, wiki.warthunder.com).

By default, posting and commenting are blocked.

Accessing the parental controls after the initial setup

You can access the parental controls via the link “Parental controls” in the email Gaijin sent you after the initial parental controls setup is done, or in your child's account in Profile > Safety > Parental controls.

You will need to enter a PIN to access the Parental controls. Don't share your PIN with your child!

FAQ:

1) Can the child change their date of birth entered during account registration?

Answer: At the moment, we do not provide the ability to change the date of birth entered during account registration.

2) My child made a mistake in my email; can it be changed?

Answer: Before you start the parental controls setup, your child can change the parent email in Profile > Safety. Once you start the parental controls setup, it can no longer be changed.

3) What if I forget my PIN?

Answer: You can initiate the PIN change via the link “Change PIN” in the email from Gaijin you received after Parental controls setup or via the “Forgot your PIN?” option in the child’s Parental Control settings menu.

You will then receive an email with instructions on the PIN change.
